With The R4 DS Card You'll Turn Your Nintendo DS Into An iPod Style Media Player.
Gaming has gone from just something kids do, to something we all do. With the popularity of video games as a form a entertainment, along side the evolution of the video games going from pixels and beeps to full blown immersive / challenging productions, more and more we find that gaming is for an older group of people.Even portable gaming systems like the Nintendo DS and the newer DSi have reached a wide audience. With a multitude of challenging games, casual games as well as in depth role playing and platform games, moms, dads, as well as their kids, are taking to playing their games on the go.
What is missing from all of these great portable game systems is the ability to do more than just play games. Something that allows you to play games, and carry around your other entertainment media with you as well seemed impossible just a short while ago. With the introduction of third party add on accessories like the R4 DS Card, that too, has changed. While most game systems end up doing just that, allowing you to play games, customers have been asking for, in some cases demanding, more and more out of their hand held game systems. As portable game consoles like the NDS or NDSi are made with faster processors, better displays and video and capabilities, it was just a question of when, not if, these unique add ons were to be released that enabled them to take advantage of using all of our digital content.
The R4 DS Card is an add on for your Nintendo DS or DSi that allows you to play not only your favorite games, homebrew applications and homebrew games, but it also allows you to turn your Nintendo DS into something so much more. When you buy R4 DS Cards, you'll be able to watch movies, listen to mp3 music, read ebooks and even take your digital photo collection with you. What is even more amazing is that the R4 DS is no bigger, and looks no different than a regular Nintendo DS cartridge. The only real difference between the R4 DS Card and a Nintendo Game card is that it can do a whole lot more than just play games by way of the microSD Card slot. You can store and load all of your games and media, right from any microSD card with ease.
Setting up the R4 DS Card is also as easy as can be, and this is one of its biggest selling features over some of the other similar card on the market. The instruction manual on how to use it is included with the software CD. It's just a matter of dragging and dropping your media files from your computer over to the microSD Card. The r4 ds box also includes a microSD Card reader that plugs into any USD port on your computer, to make it as easy as can be. You just insert the microSD card into the reader, drag over your setup files (included on the CD) and then drag and drop your movies, games, or music and put the microSD card into the R4 DS microSD slot.
Once you've copied all of the media you want to use to your r4 ds card, you now just plug it into the Nintendo DS. Here's where the fun starts. Instead of seeing your regular Nintendo DS system screen, you'll be greeted with a menu system that is loaded instantly from the microSD card in your R4 DS. The menu gives you all of the options that you could possibly need, including access to games and applications, media files such as movies, music or digital pictures, and finally, an eBook reader that enables you to take literally hundreds of eBooks with you on your Nintendo DS to read on the go.
Feel like watching the latest movies?Non issue! Just select the media icon in the R4 DS Card menu, and then select the movie file you want to play.Your Nintendo DSi will turn into not just a hand held game system but a portable dvd player. Can't get that new song out of your mind?Just drag and drop allof your mp3 music to your R4 DS and you can then listen to your favorite songs with the R4 DS on our Nintendo DS on your way to work or school. And of course, playing your favorite games is just one click away.
The R$ DS is really the only products you'll need for watching movies and listening to music on your Nintendo DS. You can even read your textbooks in txt format because the R4 DS Card turns your NDS into an eBook reader too. The R4 DS Card is one of the most unique and amazing accessories for the Nintendo DS system, and one that no serious Nintendo DS owner should be without. All you have to do now is just Buy R4 DS Cards for your Nintendo DS in order to be able to take advantage of these enhanced features and functions.
Lenovo's IdeaTab S2 10-inch does tablet transformation, packs a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon (update: hands-on) (Engadget)
This wouldn't be the first time for Lenovo to release a tablet-plus-keyboard
combo, though the illusive IdeaPad U1 Hybrid was merely adding Windows to the
updated LePad via the keyboard dock. That said, Lenovo's freshly-announced
IdeaTab S2 10" is a full package dedicated to Android 4.0, and it sports a
1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon 8x60A or 8960. Compared to the ASUS Transformer
Prime and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, this 10-inch IdeaTab comes close to or even
beats them with a 0.34-inch (8.69mm) thickness and a 1.27-pound (580 grams)
weight -- certainly much better than its Chinese counterpart, the LePad S2010.
Other features include a 1,280 x 800 LED-backlit IPS display, 3G with call
support, 1GB LPDDR2 RAM, SSD of up to 64GB, HDMI Micro connection and front
(1.3MP) and rear (5MP with autofocus) cameras. As for battery life, the tablet
alone can keep cranking for up to 9 hours, and sliding it into the keyboard
dock gets you an additional 9 hours plus two USB 2.0 ports, a multitouch
trackpad and an SDHC card reader. No word on availability or pricing yet, so
we'll keep poking Lenovo until we hear something.
**Update:** We now have hands-on ...
