Will mixing different RAM companies affect the speed of my PC?

Another computer related one for you: I have a 2gb DDR2 Kingston RAM stick, along with a 2gb DDR2 Micron Technology RAM stick. They are both in my computer, recognised as 3.25gb (due to windows 7 32bit). I am doing a budget overhaul on my PC, and if this greatly decreases the output from my RAM, then i will consider buying a new kingston 2gb (better than micron i think).

It doesn't matter what company made the RAM sticks, the main thing is that they both have the same specs, if you want to get the maximum performance out of them.
Both RAM sticks are DDR2, so they are fast, but if one is a cheaper and slower specification, it will lower the speed of the faster RAM stick as well. The system RAM will only run at the fastest speed that the slowest RAM stick is capable of.
Things get a little trickier still if your motherboard has "dual channel" capability. This effectively doubles the data throughput, but again, the motherboard will default back to single channel mode if the two RAM sticks have different specs.
What you need to look at is, the speed rating of the RAM sticks. There are several version in DDR2:
DDR2 400 (PC2 3200)
DDR2 533 (PC2 4200)
DDR2 667 (PC2 5300)
DDR2 667 (PC2 5400)
DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000)
DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
DDR2 1100 (PC2 8800)
DDR2 1200 (PC2 9600)
Even if you match up the speed specs on both RAM sticks, the motherboard might still refuse to run in dual channel mode. You might have to tweak the timing and voltage settings to downgrade the faster RAM stick, to get it to match the lower quality RAM stick, then the motherboard will see both sticks can run at the same speed and enable "dual channel" mode, which will nearly double your RAM throughput speeds.
