One of chump analysis is NutJob. Here is what he said about MC374LL/A "This is my umpteenth Mac and as usual, it's a very satisfying purchase. Although the styling of this laptop, with the dark hinge and keyboard isn't quite my cup of tea (and is a matter of taste), this machine is far and away the most solidly built. It feels like it could stop a bullet, and it probably could. It's reassuring rigidity gives it a feeling of quality and sturdiness second to none. For someone who man handles his laptop all day every day, this is very important."
Which Intel Core i7 proccesor would be better for gaming? The dual or the quad core?
More specifically, which of these two processors would be better for a gaming computer? They cost the same, but ones a quad core.
Intel® Core™ i7-620M 2.66GHz (3.33Ghz Turbo Mode, 4M cache)
or
Intel® Core™ i7-720QM Quad Core Processor 1.6GHz (2.8GHz Turbo Mode, 6MB Cache)
PS - I'm not going to be playing Crysis and using Adobe Photoshop while watching HD movies at the same time.
I would suggest you to go for the quad core. Agreed that today's games are not designed to utilize more than 2 cores. But try and build a PC that will last for at least 3 years. I am sure that by the end of this year games which will need more than 2 cores will be released. Besides tests have shown an increase in FPS when playing games on a quad core or a hex core (6 cores) CPU.
Also a game can be made to utilize the idle cores of the CPU if you have a DX11 graphic card. What DX11 does is that it sends data to the idle cores of the CPU thereby increasing the FPS (frames per second).
I would recommend the Intel Core i5-750 paired with a ATI HD 5770 or higher graphic card. You might also want to look at the new 6 core CPU's from AMD - Phenom II X6 1035T/1055T/1090T.
